Frequently Asked Questions

What are ASMR visuals?
ASMR visuals are looping, low-stimulation animations — rainfall, aurora, drifting particles, flowing lava and more — designed to hold your attention gently and quiet a busy mind. Each one runs live in your browser on an HTML canvas, so it never repeats exactly the same way twice.
Are the animations safe if I am sensitive to flashing lights?
The vast majority are slow, smooth and free of rapid strobing. A few (such as Lightning Storm) include occasional brighter flashes, so if you are photosensitive start with the calmer nature and water visuals and avoid the storm and neon simulations. All animations respect the prefers-reduced-motion setting on your device.
Do the visuals work offline?
Yes. ASMR Sanctuary is a progressive web app, so once a page has loaded the animations run entirely on your device with no streaming and no further data use. You can watch them on a plane or with your connection off.
Can I combine a visual with a sound?
Absolutely — open the Sound Mixer in one tab and a visual in another, or pair a visual landing page with its suggested ambient sound. Rain visuals sit beautifully under rainfall audio, and ocean scenes pair with wave or whale sounds.
How do I view a visual in fullscreen?
Click any visual card to expand it to immersive fullscreen, or open its dedicated page and press the Open Fullscreen button. Press Escape or the close button to exit.
Can I change the colour or speed of a visual?
Yes. In fullscreen you can pick a colour tint, save custom colour presets, and switch the animation speed between 0.5x, 1x and 2x using the controls overlay at the top of the screen.
Can I save a screenshot of a visual?
In fullscreen there is a Screenshot button that downloads the current frame as a PNG, so you can keep a still you like as wallpaper or share it.
Which visual is best for sleep, focus or anxiety?
For sleep, slow dark scenes like Starfield Drift, Aurora Borealis or Candle Flame work well. For focus, steady rhythmic motion such as Zen Ripples or Particle Rain keeps restless attention occupied. For anxiety, gentle looping nature visuals like Ocean Waves or Fireflies help down-shift the nervous system.
Do I need to download anything or sign up?
No. Every visual is free, needs no account and no download, and there are no ads or trackers. Just open the page and watch.
What do the categories mean?
The filters group the 104 simulations by mood and subject: Nature (fireflies, blossoms, forests), Abstract (lava, ink, kaleidoscope), Space (galaxies, nebulae, stars), Weather (rain, snow, storms) and Geometric (grids, crystals, spirographs). Use them to jump quickly to the feel you want.
