Daily Check-In — Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Daily Check-In actually do?
It lets you rate how you're feeling on a simple mood scale, add an optional short note, and save the entry for the day. Once saved, it suggests a couple of sounds, visuals, or exercises from the rest of the site that match your current mood, and adds the entry to your 14-day trend chart.
Is the check-in free, with no signup required?
Yes. There's no account, no email address, and nothing to pay for. You can start rating your mood immediately, and every entry is saved to your own browser rather than to any account.
Where is my check-in data stored?
All check-in data — your mood ratings, notes, and streak — is stored locally in your browser's storage. It is never sent to a server or shared with anyone, so it stays on the device you used to check in, and clearing your browser data will remove it.
How is Check-In different from the Journal or Mood pages?
Check-In is a fast, once-a-day mood rating plus an optional one-line note, designed to take under a minute. Journal is for longer, freeform writing, and Mood is a page of curated sound and visual presets organised by feeling rather than a tracker. Many people use Check-In daily and open Journal only when they want to write more.
Can I check in more than once a day?
Yes, you can submit a new check-in whenever you like. Each submission updates today's entry and note, so if your mood shifts later in the day you can simply check in again rather than leaving the old rating in place.
What happens if I miss a day?
Nothing is lost — your streak simply resets, and the trend chart will show a gap for that day. There's no penalty beyond that, and you can pick the habit back up the next time you visit without losing your earlier history.
How does the streak badge work?
The streak counts consecutive days on which you've submitted a check-in. It appears once you've checked in on at least two days in a row, and it's meant as a gentle nudge toward consistency rather than a strict requirement.
What do the suggested practices after check-in mean?
After you save a check-in, the page suggests two or three tools — a breathing exercise, a soundscape, or a short meditation — chosen to match the mood you just logged. They're direct links, so you can act on how you're feeling right away instead of hunting through the site.
Can I see my mood trend over a longer period than 14 days?
The check-in page itself only shows a rolling 14-day chart, but the Stats page shows your full check-in history with longer-range views and additional breakdowns, as long as the entries are still stored in your browser.
Why should I bother rating my mood every day?
A brief daily rating builds self-awareness of patterns you might otherwise miss — like a dip every few days or an improvement after a particular practice. It only takes a few seconds, and seeing the trend over time can be more useful than judging any single day in isolation.
